We started long before Night Armour. Nearly twenty years of designing and making lights for some of the toughest jobs in Australia. Here's how it began.
2007. Peak Lighting
We started Peak Lighting in May 2007, designing LED and HID lighting for Australian mining and heavy industry. Sites where gear has to keep working. Every shift, every season, no exceptions.
Peak built the world's first 230mm HID driving lamp. Still in production today.
We became original equipment for Ergon Energy and Energex fleet vehicles. The work trucks running power infrastructure across regional Queensland. We built the Dominator, 600 watts of light designed to run continuously for 80,000 hours in the harshest conditions in the country. And we supplied more than thirty mining corporations across Australia and overseas.
Most people who use our lights have never heard our name. That's how industrial work goes.
2014. Livid Lighting
By 2014, the consumer market needed what we'd been making for industry. So we launched Livid Lighting.
The idea was simple. Take everything we'd learned from mining and heavy plant, and put it on bullbars and roof racks instead of mining trucks. Same toughness. Same reliability. Just for people heading out on tracks instead of into pits.
We partnered with SMU Racing at the Australian Off-Road Championships, where Matt Hansen ran the night stage faster than anyone had before. With our lights on his vehicle. The conditions were brutal. Fast tracks, low visibility, no second chances. The lights held.
Then came the HyperDrive Mk2. The first LED driving light in the world to use application-specific TIR lenses. 30% more light. 35% less power.
2018. Night Armour
In June 2018, Night Armour evolved out of everything Peak and Livid had built.
The change was deliberate. Peak and Livid were about technical credibility. Mine sites. Motorsport. Fleet contracts.
Night Armour was about something simpler. The people who actually use lights every day.
The bloke driving home from a remote job site at 11pm.
The farmer doing fence runs at 4am.
The mum driving the kids home from sport on a dark country road.
The tradie finishing up well after sunset.
The family packing up the camper for the school holidays.
The traveller heading north for the dry season.
The adventurer crossing the Simpson, the Cape, or the Tanami in a rig they've built over years.

Where we are now
Most days you'll find us on the farm in Queensland. The cattle, the dogs, a few muddy utes. Lights tested where they need to work.
